PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a platinum-iridium alloy which has a compressive strength above that of an Ni based single crystal heat resistant alloy at 1,200°C, and has sufficiently high room temperature toughness.;SOLUTION: In a Pt-Ir binary alloy, the content of Ir is 0 to 50 wt.%. Alternatively, a part of Ir is substituted by one or more elements selected from Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Mo, Nb, Ta, Hf, W, Ti, Zr, Y, La Cr, and V in the above alloy. Alternatively, in a Pt-Ir-Ni ternary alloy, the total content of Ir and Ni is 75 wt.% in total.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
