PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength conversion device which is capable of dispensing with a lens used for light condensation or the like and yields a simple constitution when the device is used for the wavelength conversion apparatus.;SOLUTION: The laser beam incident end surface 6a of a nonlinear optical device 6 is polished in a spherical shape to impart a function of a condenser lens. Its radius of curvature is set so that an incident laser beam is condensed on the nearly central part of the nonlinear optical device 6. A laser beam emission end surface 6b is suitably polished so that the laser beam can be made incident on the optical system subsequent to the nonlinear optical device with a beam characteristic suitable for the optical system. In the case (a), the laser beam emission end surface 6b is polished in a spherical shape and its radius of curvature is set so that the emitted laser beam is made to be a nearly parallel beam. In the case (b), the emission end surface 6b is polished in a spherical shape and its radius of curvature is set so that the emitted laser beam is condensed again after emission.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
