PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser device which performs high optical output operation, and an excitation light source for an optical fiber amplifier using it.;SOLUTION: In the semiconductor laser device in which cladding layers 2A, 2B are arranged through light confinement layers 3A and 3B joined to an active layer 4 with a multiple quantum well structure which consists of a well layer 4A and a barrier layer 4B, and a resonator has a length of 800 μm or more, an impurity doped region 8 is formed in at least one well layer constituting the activity layer 4 and at least one barrier layer adjacent to the well layer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
