PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely decide the power of concentration of a driver by using a follow-up model in driving. PSOLUTION: This vehicle driving status estimating device is configured to calculate the reaction intensity or reaction time of a driver in order to correct a difference between its own vehicle speed measured by a vehicle speed measuring sensor 12 which detects its own vehicle speed and its own vehicle speed which is ideal for the driver corresponding to an inter-vehicle distance measured by an inter-vehicle distance measuring sensor 10 which detects an inter-vehicle distance between the preceding vehicle and its own vehicle, and stores the time series data of the calculated reaction intensity or the time series data of the calculated reaction time. This vehicle driving characteristic estimating device is configured to calculate the threshold of the reaction intensity based on the stored time series data of the reaction intensity, or to calculate the threshold of the reaction time based on the stored time series data of the reaction time, and to compare the calculated reaction intensity with the calculated threshold of the reaction intensity, or to compare the calculated reaction time with the calculated threshold of the reaction time to decide the power of concentration of the driver.
