PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable long use by equalizing life deteriorations among batteries connected in series in large numbers. PSOLUTION: A charge/discharge control circuit for batteries controls the discharge of a large number of connected batteries where a plurality of batteries are connected in series. The circuit is equipped with battery voltage detecting circuits which severally detect the voltages equal to the individual terminals' voltages of two or more batteries, battery terminal voltage retaining circuits which severally retain the individual terminals' voltages of the two or more batteries, a battery average terminal voltage retaining circuit which retains the average value of the individual terminals' voltages of the two or more batteries, a comparator which compares the output of the battery terminal voltage retaining circuit with the output of the battery average terminal voltage retaining circuit, and shunt circuits which severally shunt some of the currents that the individual batteries of the above two or more batteries discharge based on the output of the above comparator.
