PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a received image to a recipient specified by an electronic mail by collating a keyword registered in the facsimile equipment not only through character recognition so as to specify the recipient to which a received image is to be sent. SOLUTION: The facsimile equipment 1 with a recipient specification function is provided with a telephone line connection section to realize communication with a facsimile equipment 2 as an external interface, an output section that provides an output of received data and a LAN connection section to send the data to a PC 3 as an electronic mail. A character recognition means 12 extracts a text from image data received by a facsimile reception means 11, and a collation means 13 collates the text by means of a database 15 that is received in advance. Whether the image data are to be printed out on paper like a conventional facsimile equipment through a data output device (an output means 14) or transmitted to each user via a LAN through a mail transmission means 16 is decided based on contents of the collation.
