PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy by correction an absolute angle error caused by the deviation of cores between the axial center of the rotary axis of a rotary type encoder and the center of a rotary disk. ;SOLUTION: This method uses an encoder device provided with a rotary type encoder 1 for outputting absolute angle position data corresponding to a request signal. A position data correcting means is provided for correcting absolute angle position data including the error based on the absolute angle error caused by the core deviation between the rotary disk and a rotary shaft fixing the rotary disk. A memory circuit 26 of the position data correcting means stores a correction value for storing the absolute angle error found from a previously found core deviation amount. When the request signal is inputted, a correction operating means 28 reads absolute angle position data outputted from an arithmetic/command circuit 25 and the correction value corresponding to the generating position of the request signal out of the memory circuit 26 and adds the both.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
