PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the rationality of a building and the safety of an elevator by constituting a support body between a lower layer section and a high layer section, absorbing relative displacement at the time of an earthquake by deformation in the horizontal direction of the support body and reducing a clearance between the support body and the building due to the horizontal displacement of a vibration isolation device. ;SOLUTION: A lower section 12' in a rail 12 is installed to the elevator shaft 10 of a lower layer section 2, an intermediate section 12" to a lower support body section 13 and an upper section 12"' to the elevator shaft 11 of a high layer section 2 respectively. A support- body guide mechanism 17 generating deformation in the horizontal direction such as shear deformation, bending deflection, etc., to the lower support body section 13 by the horizontal relative displacement Lo of a vibration isolation device 3 at the time of an earthquake, etc., is mounted on the elevator shaft 11 of the high layer section 2. Elevator-shaft cross sections are taken widely according to the quantity of the lower support body section 13 deformed so that the lower support body section 13 does not interfere directly in the elevator shafts 10, 11 by deformation in the horizontal direction of the lower support body section 13 by the horizontal relative displacement Lo of the vibration isolation device 3, and clearances L1, L2 are formed among the elevator shafts 10', 11' and the lower support body section 13 respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
