PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosynthetic non-sulfur bacterium functioning in an alkaline condition because there are some problems that a photosynthetic bacterium functioning only in an acidic condition is not available for treating excrete in an alkaline condition although a photosynthetic bacterium functioning mainly in an acidic condition has been noticed for aiming to denitrification rather than decomposition of organic matter by photosynthetic bacteria and moreover other bacteria used for organic matter treatment are photosynthetic sulfur bacteria which need large quantities of sulfur for their proliferation.;SOLUTION: A photosynthetic bacterium and cyanobacterium functioning in an alkaline condition were isolated and cultured by screening a large number of bacteria from the natural world, and efficient decomposition of organic matter was successfully achieved. That is, microbial cells of two kinds of photosynthetic bacterium Rhodopseudomonas and one kind of cyanobacterium Synechococcus functioning in an alkaline condition and a culture method thereof are provided in the invention.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
