PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a degradation degree evaluating method for turbine oil capable of performing accurate and early evaluation of a degradation degree of the turbine oil used for lubricating a slide bearing in a water turbine power generator and the like.;SOLUTION: In this degradation degree evaluation method, a change ratio of comparative absorption peak absorbance around a wave number of 720 cm-1 of the turbine oil to a new oil is found, absorbance at an oxide absorption peak is corrected on the basis of this change ratio, a total acid number matching the corrected oxide absorption peak absorbance is found, and a degradation degree of the turbine oil is evaluated from the total acid number.
