Mass propagation of mahogany trees by tissue culture

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently mass propagate genus Swietenia trees by culturing terminal buds, etc., of to genus Swietenia trees in an induction medium, transplanting shoots obtained by treating under a specific condition into a rooting medium, rooting and regenerating plant bodies. ;SOLUTION: Terminal buds or axillary buds of genus Swietenia trees such as Swietenia-macrophylla-KING are cultured in an induction medium and multi- bud bodies having many definite bud and/or infinite bud are induced, and the resultant multi-bud bodies are transplanted into a propagation medium containing 0.02-1.0mg/l benzylaminopurine(BAP) or a B5-medium containing 0.02-1.0mg/l BAP and 0.02mg/l indolebutyric acid(IBA) and propagated, the propagated multi-bud bodies are transplanted into a shoot elongating medium and the shoot elongation is accelerated by a static culture, the elongated shoots are transplanted into a rooting medium and rooted, plant bodies are regenerated, thus the genus Swietenia trees are mass propagated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
