PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a bad condition in which leaf parts of root vegetables such as carrots are torn and the root parts of the root vegetables are left in the ground and cannot be harvested in harvesting root vegetables by a self-propelled harvester by drawing the leaf parts of the root vegetables near from both right and left edges of a harvesting row and nipping the leaf parts of the root vegetables between transporting belts at both right and left sides. ;SOLUTION: Auxiliary transporting belts 80a are installed ahead transporting belts 30a and pressing rods 81 for pressing stems and leaves are laid inside the auxiliary transporting belts 80a so as to energize the auxiliary transporting belts 80a. Root vegetables are transported by nipping the leap parts between the auxiliary transporting belts 80a and the pressing rods 81 and the transporting speeds of the auxiliary transporting belts 80a are differed, respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
