PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the failure of a generator with a simple constitution.;SOLUTION: The generated output of a generator 12 having a multiphase output winding and driven by an engine 11, is converted into AC by an inverter 133 after rectifying, to be interconnected with a system power supply 14. After starting up an engine, a first abnormality monitoring part 40 monitors a DC voltage Vdc, and after the DC voltage Vdc rises up to a predetermined value, closes a linkage relay 135 to make the inverter output to go up, to start linkage with the system power supply. After starting the linkage, a second abnormality monitoring part 43 monitors the DC voltage Vdc and the inverter output, and repeats parallel off and restart of the linkage when the DC voltage drops to a predetermined value or less before reaching the rated voltage. If the DC voltage still drops to a predetermined value or less despite restarting of the linkage, it is determined that the generator 12 has a failure such as a disconnection in one of the windings or the like.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
