PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the safety of a user by projecting the microwaves only in the crossing and vertical directions on an original to be decided and accordingly enabling the user to get rid of the microwaves. ;SOLUTION: The device is provided with a microwave transmitter 61 to project the microwaves together with a microwave receiver 62 which is placed at one of both end parts of a contact glass 241 opposite to the transmitter 61. When an image data read instruction is inputted, the transmitter 61 outputs the microwaves only in the direction to lead them to the receiver 62 through an original 243. In other words, the transmitter 61 is set in the direction to reach the receiver 62 through the original 243 and can output the microwaves in parallel to the glass 241.
