PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication method between a master set and a slave set which can finish authentication between the slave set and the master set in a short time, and can immediately start communication.;SOLUTION: The master set i receives an authentication request signal including an authentication key KB_j from the slave set j, and reversely converts the authentication key KB_j included in the authentication request signal into an encryption key Ka_j by using a key converting key KG. Also, the master set i generates master set authentication information, encrypts the generated information into encrypted master set authentication information by the encryption key Ka_j, and transmits the encrypted information to the slave set j. Also, the master set i receives the slave set authentication information from the slave set j to authenticate the slave set j. The slave set j transmits the authentication request signal including the authentication key KB_j to the master set i. Also, the slave set j decrypts the encrypted master set authentication information received from the master set into the master set authentication information by using a decryption key KA_j, and authenticates the master set i by this master set authentication information.
