PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damage to recorded magnetic information by removing only foreign matter-containing leaves on the outside of a carrying line in the case whether metals are contained or not is judged for leaves and that the possibility of the presence of small metals and hard materials of some length therein is judged. ;SOLUTION: The difference of detected waveforms is judged by a metal judging means 25, and in the case metals are contained is judged, the judgement that foreign matters are contained is applied. In the case it is judged that a possibility of containing small metals is not present by a foreign matter judging means 21, a signal is not issued to a metal detector actuating means 22, and a magnetic field is not generated from a metal detector 23 of a metal detecting means 15. On the other hand, when the possibility of containing small metals is judged to be present by the foreign matter judging means 21 and the metals are detected by the metal detecting means 15, a record of containing metals is stored in a removing box 11 outside a carrying line 10.
