PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make traceable the track of peak points which are successive along the time base of a frame by providing a peak track determining means, etc., which determines a next successive peak point among detected peak points according to analytical data on peak points predicted by a predicting means. SOLUTION: A CPU 1 performs a waveform analyzing process as to specified musical sound waveform data in a data memory 3 according to a waveform analyzing program stored in a program memory 2 and detects peak points of frequency spectra of respective frames of a Fourier analyzing process. Predicted amplitude data are found through predictive operation based upon multiple amplitude data as track data on peak points having amplitude data closest to the predicted amplitude data. Thus, the track of a next frame is predicted according to frequency data on the peak points which are already extracted as a peak track to extract peak points, so naturally connecting tracks can be traced.
