PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately follow the locus of the peak points of the frequency spectrum of musical sound waveform data in a frame time direction. SOLUTION: A frame-freq plane composed of cells arranged in a matrix shape stipulated by time coordinates and frequency coordinates is set. The time coordinate is set to the quadruple resolution of the resolution of frame time. The respective peak points are respectively set to the corresponding cells (the cell of the coordinate [N, 5] for instance) of the frame-frequency plane. To the cells near the periphery of the peak point, the amplitude of the peak point weighted corresponding to a distance from the peak point is set. The amplitude weighted by the respective peak points is accumulated in each cell. A cell is selected following an extreme value while searching the extreme value of cumulative values ('35', '19' and '12', etc.), from the peak point.
