PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inspection devices 19, 39 and an inspection method for a bottle, capable of stably and sensitively inspecting the bottle whether the bottle is in a dry state or in a wet state. ;SOLUTION: This inspection device 19, 39 has an inspection light emission means for emitting inspection light to the inspected body transmitting light; an image pickup means 25 for picking up an image of transmission light transmitted through the inspected body of the inspection light and outputting an image pickup signal; and a decision means 33 or deciding the state of the inspected body, on the basis of the image pickup signal and reference data set previously. The image pickup means 25 has a spectral prism 3, or the inspection device 19, 39 has a laser light emission device 40 as the inspection light emission means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
