Prostaglandin E2 EP4 receptor subtype antagonist peptides and their use in the treatment or prevention of medical conditions associated with oligouric nephropathy, bone resorption, intestinal crypt cell proliferation or ductus arteriosus and the like are described. The antagonist petids of the present invention have the following general formula (I): wherein X is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a 1 to 3 amino acid sequence and protecting groups such as carbamate group and an acyl group; and wherein Y is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, 1 to 5 residues of L-lysine, phosphate, sulfate and 1 to 5 ethylene glycol residues.
