This invention relates to the pyrazole derivatives of formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates or derivatives thereof, their use in medicine, the formulations containing them, the processes for their preparation and the intermediates used in these processes. The compounds of the invention bind to the reverse transcriptase enzyme and are modulators, especially inhibitors thereof. Reverse transcriptase is involved in the infectious life cycle of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Compounds that interfere with the function of this enzyme have been shown to be useful in treating conditions caused by HIV and genetically related retroviruses, such as Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
