In the present invention, there is disclosed a mine water treatment process by making use of sodium aluminate, which treatment process is characterized in that first water pH value is adjusted to 12.5 +/- 0.5 either by means of dry hydrate or by means of calcium hydroxide and then a required amount sodium aluminate solution is added into water under perpetual stirring. The formed precipitate is separated by sedimentation and filtration. Prior discharge in surface water, so purified water is neutralized with carbon dioxide to obtain a resulting pH value in the range of 6 to 9 and subsequently separation of solid phase is carried out either by sedimentation or filtration. Optionally, other treatment stage by using ion-exchange resins can follow.
