The process for polymerizing an olefin monomer, especially ethylene, propylene, or a mixture thereof, with other alpha-olefins in a continuous gas fluidization bed. The recirculated gas stream is cooled to condense a liquid (e.g. a comonomer), at least a portion of this liquid is separated and sprayed under pressure directly into the fluidized bed through a nozzle (1) provided with a liquid atomizing mechanical device (6) so that the spray jet (5) is created. The spray zone (5) is protected by a wall shielded from its fluidized bed particles, where this wall can be a tube or a sheet. The nozzle used in the process has two or more series of outlets. Each such series is independently fed and controlled to provide an improved up-down fluid supply to the bed.
