The invention relates to the chemistry of heterometallic coordinative compounds and radiochemistry and may be used in the capacity of water radiolytic decomposition catalyst. Summary of the invention consists in the utilization as catalyst of the trihydrate of catena-[(µ2-O,O')-ethylenediamine tetraacetato)bismuthate(III)] of hexaaquacopper(II) {[Cu(H2O)6][BiEdta]2·3H2O, where H4Edta=(HOOCCH2)2N(CH2)2N(CH2COOH)2}. The hydrogen radiolytic yield in such case increases by 40,2 times in comparison with the uncatalyzed process and by 11,3 times in comparison with the analogue - the dimer of aquaethylenediamine tetraacetatobismuthate(III) of 1,2-dinitrotetraaminecobalt(III).
