A process and system for pretreating, gathering, transmitting and finally treating waste produced at multiple waste generating sites (30) includes pretreating at pretreatment units (12) proximate the sites (30), gathering the pretreated waste at gathering stations (50) and transmitting the waste to a final treatment facility (40). Detection monitors (70) at the gathering stations (50) allow for controlled injection of waste to collection lines (20) and segments thereof so as to controllably transmit the waste to final treatment facility (40). At the pretreatment units (12) particulates are removed that would otherwise impede the flow of waste through the collection lines (20).
