The container assembly comprises a crate and a cover suitable for shopping or carrying out other tasks, the crate having a rectangular base, two rectangular long side walls, two rectangular opposing cross walls, which determine a parallelepiped crate contour. The cover (10) is made of a material which insulates objects carried in the crate against external heat. It has a rectangular horizontal wall part, two opposing rectangular cover long walls (12) and two opposing rectangular cross walls (13), determining together a parallelepiped cover contour. The dimensions of the cover and crate contours are such that they fit completely one into the other. The cover and crate cross walls are provided with hand grips (14,15), which when the crate and cover are nested overlap. The cover can be made of air cushion foil and/or one or more layers of heat-reflecting material, such as aluminum foil.
