The device is for the treatment of the outer ends of limbs of patients and involves the use of a glove, mitten or sock, through which coolant fluid runs to cool the patient extremities to approximately 20 degrees Celsius. The glove is connected to a cooling unit and cooling is controlled by measuring temperature. The device is employed in the administration of chemotherapy where cytostatics are infused into the patient. The patient remains subjected to the cooling for 15-30 minutes after the end of the administration of the cytostatics. This time is derived from the half-line of the medication administered and can differ. The therapy can also be used in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
