The method is for the reduction in size of formed polymer particles by freezing to particles with an average size smaller than 6 mm and employs a grinding device. Prior to grinding, the articles are subjected to a freezing stage, which converts the articles completely to chips. These are then fed into the grinding device for further reduction to particles at least 40 per cent by weight less and to a size smaller than 1 mm.
