A method of enhancing growth and/or commercial yield of a plant, especially under conditions with low humidity and/or low CO2 concentration, comprises expressing within the plant a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence at least 60% homologous to that shown in SEQ ID NO: 3, 5, 6 or 7. Also described are transformed plants including the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:3, 5, 6 or 7.
