METHOD FOR ASSESSING ABSORPTION OF NUTRIENT MIXTURE IN CHRONIC EXPERIMENT IN VIVO

The method for assessing the absorption of the nutrient mixture in the chronic experiment in vivo consists in measuring the concentration of the components of the nutrient mixture in the portion of the intestine under study. Two or more end-to-side anastomoses are applied to the intestine generating the "live fistulas" Upon the healing of the wound, through the fistulas the access to the normally functioning intestine is provided. The qualitative and quantitative assessment of the components comprising the nutrient mixture is carried out under conditions maximally approaching the physiologic ones. The difference in the content of the specified components in the inlet and outlet of the portion of the intestine under study is measured every 5 minutes for one hour twice a week. The experiment is performed for several months. The absorption of the nutrient mixture is assessed by decreasing concentration in the outlet relative to those in the inlet.
