The proposed method for determining the cytotoxicity of aquatic environment by morphological changes in cell nuclei of animal test organisms consists in introducing the test organisms into the tested environment, holding the test organisms in the environment for 30 ... 180 minutes, carrying out the cytological analysis of the cells of the test organisms for analyzing morphologic changes in the cell nuclei, and estimating the cytotoxicity of the environment by comparing the averaged data obtained for the tested and reference test organisms.
