The proposed method for simulating metabolic acidosis in new-born calves that causes acidemia within the first 36 hours of calf life consists in perorally administering 0.05 N sulfuric acid solution, in an amount of 8 ml per 1 kg of body weight, to the calves five times within the first 24 hours of life, with an interval of one hour, independently of feeding the calves with foremilk, and two times within the second 24 hours.
