The present invention relates to a biodegradable composite substrate for the growth of plants with gamic and agamic propagation, comprising a matrix of a natural origin, a polyurethane-based polymer, water, and incorporating a specific polymer with a combined binding and fertilizing action. The substrate of the invention is used in the production of seed trays suitable for the development of seedlings and having a cubic, parallelepiped, cylindrical, truncated-conical or flat-tile shape.
