Method for preparation of latex, with pre-defined properties, by emulsion (co)polymerization of at least one type of ethylenically unsaturated monomer is carried out continuously in situ to the (co)polymerization. Method for preparation of latex, with pre-defined properties, by emulsion (co)polymerization of at least one type of ethylenically unsaturated monomer is carried out continuously in situ to the (co)polymerization. The method comprises: (i) incident luminous radiation of wavelength 200-1400, preferably 700-1400 nm is transmitted into the emulsion; (ii) light diffused by the emulsion is captured by a Raman spectrometer; (iii) the Raman spectrum is studied to determine the energy of the diffused light as a function of the shift in wavelength with respect to incident light; (iv) intensities (height or area) of specific spectral lines are calculated for free monomers in the reaction medium and (co)polymer obtained; (v) concentrations of free monomers and (co)polymer are calculated from data obtained in step (iv); (vi) results from step (v) are compared with specific references for latex; and (vii) reaction parameters such as temperature, pressure, stirring rate and rate of introduction of monomers are regulated to minimize difference between obtained readings and reference readings. Independent claims are also included for latex obtained by said method; and device for implementing said method.
