Process of separation of contaminating metals present in acid solutions by liquid-liquid extraction with mixtures based on dialkyl alkyl phosphonates, trialkyl phosphates and acid phosphates. It refers to the process of separating at least one element from the concomitant elements As, Sb, Bi Ni, Zn, and Fe present in sulfuric acid solutions from, for example, the electrorefining of copper. This process comprises the treatment by solvent extraction of acidic aqueous solutions with organic solutions of aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons containing extractants consisting of mixtures in which at least one water-insoluble organophosphorus compound of the dialkyl alkyl phosphonates type is dissolved. RP (O) - (OR) 2, trialkyl phosphates (RO) 3PO and acid phosphates (RO) 2P (O) OH + (RO) P (O) (OH) 2. The re-extraction is carried out by acidic aqueous solutions of pH 0-7 and of variable salt composition.
