A process for making a hole in a piece of composite material being reinforced part by a plurality of fibers and having a surface, the bore having a longitudinal axis, a first diameter and a depth, said method comprising the steps of: providing a cutting tool having a shaft, a cutting head and a rotating shaft having the cutting head a second diameter which is substantially smaller than the first diameter of the hole is performed, the shaft having a third diameter which is substantially smaller than the second diameter of the cutting head, the cutting head having a height which is substantially less than the depth of the hole is performed; orienting the cutting tool such that the axis of rotation of the cutting tool is substantially orthogonal to the surface of the workpiece; and machine simultaneously the part, both in axial and radial direction inrespect longitudinal axis of the hole, by simultaneously rotating the cutting tool about the axis of rotation, moving the cutting tool in an axial direction, and moving the cutting tool eccentrically around the longitudinal axis of the bore.
