The procedure is for obtaining monocrystalline fibers of alpha-alumina doped with transition metals, such as fibers of ruby, sapphire and others with semi-precious characteristics. Starting with crystalline fibers of alpha -alumina (corundum) obtained from aluminum and quartz, the chemical composition of which is modified with the incorporation of transition metals (Cr,Fe,Ti,V), the fibers acquire new properties in all ways - color, hardness and chemical resistance.
