Employment of 4-galactosyl-xylose in humans for in vivo evaluation of intestinal lactase as a noninvasive diagnostic test of the deficiency of this enzyme.; Use in humans based on the use of 4-galactosyl method integrating in this method an alternative to determining technique xylose in urine, consisting of evaluating the concentration of xylose in blood after administration to the patient of 4-galactosyl-xylose, that it is more suitable for use in case of newborns.; Technology for in vivo evaluation of intestinal lactase activity, as non - invasive test for the diagnosis of deficiency of this enzyme, which is based on the direct assessment of the overall activity of the enzyme in the complete individual, not the assessment of consequences of its deficiency, does not require specialized aparataje, it causes no apparent discomfort in patients with lactase deficiency and is highly reliable, thus overcoming the drawbacks of currently used diagnostic tests.
