Procedure for the test of possible modulators of body weight or the thermoregulation which consists in the administration of said possible modulator to both (a) a non-human transgenic animal that comprises an inactive copy of the Peg3 gene as a result of a genetic modification or (b) a non-human transgenic animal that expresses Peg3 at levels higher than wild-type animals; and determining the effect of this possible modulator on the body weight or thermoregulation of said non-human animal.
