Method for deciding if it can allocate resources for a new transaction in a cellular telecommunications system spread spectrum, in which - one current received interference power Prx_total in a receiver is measured, - an estimate of the increase in interference power Prx_total in uplink direction due to a transaction is calculated essentially as in a load factor L is calculated essentially as wherein W is the transmission rate segment, R is the bitrate of the new transaction, and SIR is signal-interference required, ratio estimated for the new transaction, and where a current fractional load rate is essentially where NR is the noise rise which is defined as the ratio of the current received interference power Prx_total with respect to the system noise, - a sum of said current received interference power and said estimate of increased compared p ower interfering with a threshold, and - resources for the new transaction are allocated, if said sum is less than the threshold.
