A method for increasing oil production from an oil well (10) producing a mixture (90) of oil and gas under high pressure through a probe which penetrates an oil field (16) containing an oil-bearing zone ( 32) and an injection zone (30), comprising: (a) separating the downhole some of the gas mixture (90) of oil and gas to produce a separated gas (82) and a mixture enriched oil (80); (B) use the energy of at least part of the mixture (90) of oil and gas to compress at least part of the separated gas (82) to produce a compressed gas (84) having sufficient pressure to be injected into the area injection (30); (C) injecting the compressed gas (84) in the injection zone (30); and (d) recovering at least most of the oil-enriched mixture (80), wherein at least a portion of the separated gas (82) is compressed on a surface (12).
