A truck mounted rail brake including at least aprimary beam having a center section and a pair of endsections with guide feet. The center portion mayinclude two opposed channel elements, each having ahorizontal base and two vertical walls, joined by thefasteners or first weldments. The vertical walls ofthe opposed channeled elements may extend either fromthe base towards each other or away from each other.The first weldments are hollow and the bases includeopenings to the hollow of the first weldments. Thecross-section of the end portions of at least one ofthe channeled elements are smaller than the cross-sectionof a center portion of the at least onechanneled element.
