METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORATING AND STIMULATING OIL WELLS

Perforation and stimulation of a plurality ofselected sections of a cased well is completed with asingle insertion of a well tool. The process includessuccessive stages of perforating and stimulating selectedsections of the well in sequence starting from a lowestsection in the wellbore. In each stage, selected chargescarried by a perforating gun of the well tool are detonatedto perforate the casing and stimulation fluid is pumpedthrough the perforating gun to an injection nozzleconnected to a bottom end of the perforating gun. Themethod and apparatus in accordance with the inventionenable perforation and stimulation of selected sections ofcased wells more quickly and at lower cost.
