A system and method for increasing the performance of a satellitecommunication systemby using a multivariate analysis approach to optimize the pointing of theboresight of asatellite-mounted antenna. Optimizing the pointing of the boresight of theantenna minimizes sidelobegeneration, and thus Co-Channel Interference (CCI) in geographic areas servedby the system.By minimizing CCI, the overall system performance of the communication systemis optimized.To optimize the pointing of the boresight of the antenna, the overallperformance of the satellitecommunication system is determined, and the boresight of the antenna isiteratively repointed inthe direction of increasing system performance until the optimized boresightpointing isdetermined. Alternatively, the frequency re-use plan of the satellitecommunication system maybe analyzed to determine a high density cell region and the boresight may bepointed to the highdensity cell region.
