The invention relates to a method for the detection and combating of forestand surface fires.The analysis of regions of fire is performed from the air by means ofgeoreferenced infrared datawhich are transferred to a planning and deployment center (2). With a displayand planningcomputer the entire situation is analyzed, represented, and fire-fightingactions are computedfrom the air and from the ground and communicated to the particular deploymentunits.
