A road guide server (1) stores a three-dimensional image, for which areference orientation is defined, in a three-dimensional image DB inassociation with intersections included in road information. The roadinformation is stored in the map DB of a map data server (2) as informationincluding information concerning the road and information concerning theintersections on the road. In response to a request from a user terminal (3)connected through a network (9), the road guide server (1) reads out the three-dimensional image of a specified intersection from the three-dimensional imageDB, and creates an intersection guide image in the three-dimensional imagethus read out by synthesizing symbols indicating the traveling road of theuser according to a guide course searched by the map data server (2) based onthe road information. The road guide server (1) transmits the intersectionguide image thus created to the user terminal (3). Upon receiving theintersection guide image transmitted from the road guide server (1), the userterminal (3) displays the received three-dimensional guide image such that thedisplay orientation can be altered.
