DUAL BLADE LARYNGOSCOPE WITH ESOPHAGEAL OBTURATOR

A dual bladed laryngoscope (10) for simplifying intubation. There is a gripportion (14h) and handle (18) for opening and closing the blades, andlaryngoscope (10) is pivotally hinged on one side of the blades for easyremoval while an oxygen source remains attached to the endotracheal tube. Anesophageal obturator (12c) and ramp (20d) formed by arytenoid bumper (20)ensure proper tube placement by deflecting the tube into the trachea whileblocking the esophagus. The upper blade (14) has an optional tongue guard(14i), and a suction conduit (22) is built in or secured to either the lowerblade (12) or the upper blade (14) for suctioning secretions or emesis whileintubating. A suction break (22d) allows a finger of the hand holding thelaryngoscope (10) to control the presence and intensity of suction while theopposite hand simultaneously inserts the endotracheal tube into the trachea.
