This patent teaches a method that exploits the temporal and spatial characteristics of interferometric signatures collected from coherent point targets, appearing in multiple Synthetic Aperture Radar frames of the same scene, and identified by a residual analysis. The method allows characterization of atmospheric propogation delay effects separate from surface deformation. The method iteratively improves the model, ever more accurately apportioning atmospheric and topographic phase changes. Model results specific to coherent point scatterers can then be extrapolated to surrounding areas.
