A follow-up system for procedures relating to sanitary operations involving a plurality of elements present in a hospital clinic, each of said elements being associated with an electronic label (32, 34, 36 or 37) which can be read by a reader. The follow-up system comprises the following: a central data base (2) for recording various items of data relating to the various elements present; a server (6) connected to the central data base; an internal and external data transmission network (8) to which the server is connected, terminals (10 and 20) which are connected to the server via the internal network server in order to transmit and record data from the terminal in the central data base, i.e. data relating to the elements present; at least one reader (12 and 22) for reading data on the labels in order to transmit and record the data in the central data base.
