An apparatus is new and comprises a support (I) comprising a casing (II) which is used to as a receiving means for detecting the stage of the estrus cycle in cows by emitting a light signal engaged in the case and enclosed in (II). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a support (I) for a detector which comprises a casing containing means for detecting the stage of the estrus cycle in cows comprising a test region in natural fibers having a surface comprising between 0.04-0.06 m2 adapted to support the rectangular case for receiving the detector which is approximately placed at the center of the test region; and (2) a casing (II) for the detector which is supported by a support and contains means for detecting the stage of the estrus cycle in cows in which (I) comprises a base plate covered by a lid.
